Pitch@Palace
Last Friday, I was invited to the Pitch@Palace, to support the teams from the GCHQ/Wayra accelerator, where I’m Mentor in Residence.
It was a really interesting event, with the Duke of York clearly passionate about helping small businesses.
The audience got to have a vote, but the final choice of winners was left to a panel of worthy judges. They were deciding who gets a direct invitation through to ‘Boot Camp’, and which teams are still in competition with the other cohort 9.0 teams for the remaining places.
The judges picked three teams from the quality of their pitches: Intruder, led by Chris Wallis, Trust Elevate, led by Dr Rachel O’Connell, and Immersive Labs, led by James Hadley.
Intruder and TrustElevate are from the Wayra accelerator, so I know them very well. I’ve seen Immersive Labs at CyLon, CSIT Labs, and a few other accelerator events. They’re all really good companies, aiming to make bad people’s lives harder.
I’ve now signed up for service from Intruder, and my next blog post will describe how I got on with their service.
I’m now on the list of ‘Elevators’ (their name for Mentors) held by the Pitch@Palace team, so I might be meeting more start-ups outside the Wayra structure, soon.
